Review – Be Kind Rewind

by lyndonology on February 4, 2010

An actual short movie, I didn’t know these existed anymore. Lately for whatever reason, Hollywood seems determined to keep you sitting as long as possible. Guess you need the extra time to get all the product placement in :)

Anyway, back to the movie review and a little less of my spiel. It’s a strange little movie. Not that it’s a bad thing! Essentially Mos Def and Jack Black work for a small mom and pop type video store. Not DVD’s or Blu-Ray’s, but actual videos on VHS tape. After a bizarre accident, where Jack Black magnetizes himself. He inadvertently erases all the videos in the store. In an effort to keep the struggling business going, Jack and Mos start making fan versions or Sweded videos to replace the tapes. They become a hit among the locals and results in them have to recruit more people to star and act in their films. The ending is a bit meh. I get where they were going, but for some reason it just left me a bit unsatisfied. Would love to know what other people that saw the film thought about it.

Overall Verdict – Rent It!!
