Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova – Falling Slowly

I’ve spent the week covering my favorite songs from the movie One Week, unfortunately I’ve run out. So today, I’ve decided to cover my favorite movie soundtrack of all-time (well unless something better comes along) I bet a lot my long time readers would think it’s the soundtrack to the animated version of the Transformers movie. Well, you’d be very wrong!!

I love the movie Once, I’m not ashamed to admit it. It’s not my typical sci-fi, superhero, action adventure or comedy!! Sure it’s essentially a glorified music video for the various songs Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova wrote and preformed for the album The Swell Season. But I don’t care, it makes me happy. Given the craziness in the world, why shouldn’t you do or in this case listen to things that make you happy?

Plus it’s probably the greatest upset in Oscars history. Other than people who have seen the movie, who would have picked it to win the award for best song in a motion picture. NO one, that’s who. It also had one of the classiest moves in Oscars hosting. When they were accepting the award Marketa didn’t get a chance to say her speech, when they ran out of time. So later in the show Jon Stewart invited her back on stage to finish up.

I’m rambling, I know!! (I could go on for awhile), so I think I better finish up.

You can purchase the song here. Or if the video link is down, you can still hear a 30 second clip in your browser.
