I’m not sure if I’m bored or just a little crazy. But I’ve decided to be brave and try out WordPress 2.7 beta2! It installed easy enough, all of my plugins still work and my template didn’t crash. So I’d say it was a success
Here’s a few things that I like about the new version.
You can now organize your Admin screen and customize it to better suit your needs. It’s not perfect, I don’t like the left hand sidebar. I prefer the old way, with it at the top of the screen. I don’t know if they are going to change that in the final version or when the next major upgrade comes around.
You’re now able to edit and reply to comments right from the Dashboard. While I’m able to edit them, I don’t seem to be able to reply directly to commenters. I’m not sure if it’s a bug in the system or if it’s a problem with my custom template. So it’s something I’ll have to check into.
I don’t have to load up the post editor, If I want to write a short post.
Don’t need a plugin to write a sticky post that remains on the main page of your site. I wrote one reminding visitors to sign up to my RSS feed or by email. I hope to come up with something better later on.
I’m not sure, but I think my site loads faster. I remember at WordCamp, Matt said that they improved the speed by improving the coding. Well it seems that they did it!
Still have more stuff to test out, but so far so good.
Later…

It does seem that they improved the speed, I thought the site loaded faster.
I’m not quite ready to go beta, I’ll wait for the real version since I seem to have so much trouble with my upgrades, but I’m at 2.6.3 right now so that was the last stable release, I’m not far behind at this point.
jafers last blog post..My Opinion Counts
@ Jafer - I remember all your problems, I can’t blame you for wanting to wait!!
