Tie Me Wallaby Down

by Lyndon on November 1, 2008

So I’m watching the news and one of the stories they mention that Wallaby escaped from the farm that he lives on. Now while Wallabies might be common in places like Australia; Canada it’s not everyday news.

Strangely the first thing that I thought of was this old song I used to hear. Back in the day, my parents used to listen to a station called 1050 Chum (If you lived in Ontario, you’ll know about them) For some reason, they loved playing this song called “Tie Me Kangaroo Down” by Rolf Harris”

Anyway, that’s it; for my weird word association! Wendell hope you get home soon buddy :)

Later…

Wow, that was random. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has parents with questionable tastes.

I’ll join the weird parents club… ;)

@ Amyt - Actually my parents taste in music, wasn’t that bad :) It was just one of the quirks of the radio station, more than anything else.

@ Michael - Everybody has weird parents, so just don’t like to admit it :)

I remember that song - and I remember CHUM, I’m sure there were points in my life where I listened to it.

Ha ha ha! Do you want to hear my strange word association? If you have Outback Steakhouse up there, you would know about my favorite wallaby. It’s an awesome frozen drink they serve there and it’s called Wallaby Darn :o)

Oh thank you very much! I’ll have that song bouncing around in my head until 2010

@ Jafer - Thank you, finally someone else who remembers it!!

@ Ivanhoe - We do have Outback restaurants in Toronto, but I haven’t been to one yet. If I’m ever there, I’ll have to try one of those drinks in your honor.

@ Ed - Glad you enjoyed the song and the video.

@ Lorna - You know what they say, misery loves company. Just sing it out loud and get it stuck in your friends and families head as well :)
