Location - Home Type - On DVD MMPA Rating - Rated PG-13
Finally got back to the pile of movies that I have to watch. Decided to pick one at random and just go with the flow. So the hand of fate dealt me “The Bucket List” I remember seeing the trailer to this and think, renter at best. Guess what, I was right.
There isn’t anything mind blowing about the film. It’s a typical my life is ending and I want to go out with a bang film. While most of us, would want to do that. We wouldn’t be able to in real life, because we just couldn’t afford it. But thankfully for those of us watching at home, one of the characters in the film is just mind boggling rich. We never really get to know the amount though.
While there isn’t really anything new, I did enjoy the film. It’s probably because of the interaction of the characters played by Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. There just so darn likable in the film! That’s pretty much it. Two old guys going to kick the bucket and want to do as much as they can before they go.
Pros - It’s not too sappy or melodramatic.
Cons - It should have really been called Jack and Morgan go on vacation
Overall Rating - D

I wish you would have had this review out before I rented the dvd. What a disappointment it was! SOmetimes, I think Jack has passed his expiration date, ya know?

@ Nat - That was the quickest comment I’ve ever gotten!! Sorry, I didn’t post my review in time to save you. Anything else you thinking of renting, I’ll see if I can post before you watch it

Wow, I’m surprised you only gave it a D. I thought it was better than that (as was on my review). I wasn’t expecting much, other than a life story, and that’s what it seemed to be, so I guess that’s why I thought it was higher than that - even though I don’t like Jack Nicholson.

@ Jafer - I enjoyed it, but it still doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good film. Likewise, there are really good films, that I thought were about as enjoyable as going to the dentist. I rate them as I see them

Oh no! D? I think it was a little bit better. Maybe a C :o)

A D? Yeah I would have brought that up to a C on the strength of their performances alone, but you’re right, it’s not a “good” movie in a couple of ways.

@ Ivanhoe - Yup a D!
@ Scott - They did have good performances, but how many times have we see Jack and Morgan do essentially the same roles. Now if they had reversed roles, it might have been more interesting and maybe a better movie.

I couldn’t give that overrated megastar-bloated movie a review if you paid me. Neutrally yours, Lorna
