Lyndon is an ordinary person, living in an ordinary house, writing another ordinary review. You would think he’d be tired of reviewing movies, when there are so many people and so many sites that do the same thing.
But he does not care!! What he does care about is the fact that he tries to write spoiler free reviews. See he believes that you can tell enough of the story, without revealing key details like they do in movie trailers.
Essentially leaving the final choice with the reader. On if they want to see the movie or if they don’t. Now, he’s actually going to talk about the movie.
Harold Crick (Will Ferrell) was leading an uneventfully life. He would get up at the same time and go through the same morning routine. He had every moment and detail of his life planned out to the second.
That was until one day! On this particular morning that could be no different than any other. Harold started to hear a voice in his head, narrating about everything that he is doing. Little does he know that the narrator is an actual author struggling to come up with an ending to her story; Harold’s story/life.
The interaction between Harold and the author Kay Eiffel (Emma Thompson) is believable and the various twists are interesting. While there are various clues to the eventual conclusion. You don’t really start piecing it together till the end, kind of like the film Sixth Sense.
It might not sound like the most interesting story, but you’ll be surprised at how quickly time goes by while watching. For a rare change, you get to see Will Ferrell being serious; instead of over the top. It’s a refreshing change of pace for him and I enjoyed see this different side from him.
Pros - The cast is great and give an outstanding performance. Will Ferrell (Who knew he could do serious)
Cons - It’s a one and done film, no real replay value. Fans of Will Ferrell’s usually over the top and zany antics will be disappointed. Would have liked the author (Kay Eiffel) to stick to her original ending. It would have been interesting to see how the characters coped with what should have happened.
Overall Rating - B

I saw this one but I don’t really remember it - I suppose that says something for what I thought of it
