This is where I take time off from my regular posting and ask my readers their opinion on a various topics.
So I’m reading a story on Kotaku about a 16 year old whose parents let him drop out of school to become a professional video game player. Yes you read that right! They let him drop out of school to play Guitar Hero. So this weeks question is.
What do you think your parents reaction would be, if you asked them to drop out of school; to play video games professionally?
Later…

@ Ivanhoe - Maybe his parents should have done the same thing

Um, no way!
I just read a book in which the dad let his kid drop out of school, but the condition was he had to watch three movies with him every week and discuss. What the hell is up with these parents?

If it was really professionally and he was being paid for it, I dont see why not …. however if it was meant in the bum around and play at home sense, then its ridiculous that any parent would even take the idea seriously.

@ Nat - I’ve heard of the book you mentioned. Can’t remember the name of it though.
@ Posh Totty - While he enters contests, he has no sponsorship. So the only money he makes is if he wins. The most the top players make is about $25 000.
